The playgrounds are bustling, the bright yellow buses are running, and classrooms are filled with students. School is back in session, but that does not mean every student has the supplies they need to succeed. Over 100 members of the Orlando Regional REALTOR® Association (ORRA), in conjunction with ORRA’s charitable arm, the Orlando Regional REALTOR® Foundation (ORRF), donated $3,000 worth of schools supplies to Tools 4 Seminole Schools. This is enough schools supplies to fill an entire truck bed.
Teachers often end up spending $500 of their own money on schools supplies.
According to a Business Insider report, U.S. teachers often end up spending $500 of their own money on schools supplies to ensure students have the materials they need to succeed in the classroom. There is a great need here in Central Florida – in the communities where we live. More than half of Seminole County’s student population qualifies for the free or reduced meals program. To lend a helping hand, ORRA partnered with Tools 4 Seminole Schools. Tools 4 Seminole Schools is a teacher store that provides necessary school supplies free of cost for Seminole County Public Schools. The store has everything a student might need to succeed, like pencils, notebooks, crayons, glue, tissues, socks, underwear, etc. Teachers are invited to come to shop the collection for free.
Collecting and distributing supplies and materials
The store is supported by grants, corporate giving and community donations, collecting and distributing supplies and materials year around to help alleviate the burden on teachers as well as low-income parents. Always looking for ways to better the communities in which their members live and work, ORRF organized a school supplies drive. Thank you to the more than 100 REALTORS® at five collection sites who participated in the drive!
